If you want to see some of the most biologically diverse hard coral reefs, here’s the itinerary for you. 3 weeks of diving in some of the best dive destinations for the most beautifully alive reefs.
Starting off in Southern Leyte, you’ll stay at Sogod Bay Scuba Resort. This is a true divers resort in one of the best land based dive destinations in the Philippines. Diving here is remarkable; incredible reefs, wall dives, drift dives, adrenalin dives, macro dives, muck dives, deep dives and then to top it all a Whaleshark might bimble by! We defy anyone to surface from a dive on Napantau and not say ‘wow’ immediately.
No visit to Southern Leyte is complete without a night dive on the Padre Burgos pier; no deeper than 5m, you’ll have plenty of time to explore and find the seahorses, frogfish, stargazers, nudibranchs, ghost pipefish and if you’re lucky, blue ringed octopus.
After a hard days diving, you’ll need to relax and have dinner on the veranda, overlooking the beautiful Sogod Bay.
The next destination takes you to Cabilao, to stay with Polaris Dive Resort. Cabilao is a beautifully quiet place, with nothing to disturb you except the occasional ferry going by on its way to Cebu or Tagbilaran.
Polaris is a big, small resort, if you see what I mean! Plenty of space and facilities and relatively few rooms for its size. As with all our resorts, the staff are extremely friendly and will be only to happy to help you and bring you a cold San Miguel or cocktail while you chill and try and spot shooting stars in the nights sky.
Diving in Cabilao is really fantastic too. Polaris house reef is one huge long wall, dropping down to 40 something meters, absolutely pristine reef covered in all kinds of life, the kind of place where you should really go super slow and admire the magnificence of the place, as well as getting your head stuck into the reef to find the smaller things.
