Fishermen’s Cove is a gem of place, nestled in a small cove close to the small town of Puerto Galera, but far from the hustle, bustle and noise of Sabang.
Over the last couple of decades, Giuseppe, the owner, has made the resort into what you could call a little piece of Italy. That is most definitely true when you indulge into their menu… freshly made pasta and gnocchi every day, served with salads drizzled with extra virgin olive oil, fresh fish galore, fresh beef and tuna Carpaccio served with shavings of fresh parmesan and garnished with rocket leaves. Not to forget the pizzas. Saturday night is pizza night and if you like your pizza done in the proper way of very thin and crispy, this is the place for you!
Giuseppe takes his food very seriously and has gone to great lengths to source the ingredients and equipment required to make superb food, for example, the pizza oven, all 1000kg of it, was imported specially from Italy! Of course, there are also non-Italian dishes available, including classic Filipino dishes like Adobo. In Giuseppe’s words, you come to Fishermen’s Cove for the diving but you come back for the food!
Of course, Fishermen’s Cove isn’t just a great place to eat, it is a fully functioning resort and dive center. The effort Giuseppe has put into his kitchen is equaled in the facilities he has for the dive center and resort.
The accommodation is within a brand new 4 story building with 11 very spacious en-suite rooms, equipped with comfortable king size beds, TV, air-con, safe, hot shower and wifi. Their veranda overlooks the swimming pool and the sea beyond. The grounds of the resort are spacious and leafy with swimming pool and adjacent spa pool, perfect for cocktails at sunset, as you wind down after a great days diving.
The Dive Centre is well equipped with nitrox blending, spacious classroom, secure camera room, good standard of hire equipment and dive boats that are speedy and comfortable. As always in a well run establishment, you won’t need to lift a finger in assembly your gear and getting it to the boat, the dive crew will take care of all that for you.
Although there is no beach at the resort, guests who want to chill out on one of the nearby white sand beaches, can be taken by boat, at no charge when you are a full board guest. But trust us… we highly recommend being a full board guest at Fisherman’s Cove!
