Location is second to none. Perched on the corner of Busuanga Bay, Al Faro has the best views of the area, surrounding islands and out towards the South China Sea. We challenge you to find better. Owned by the lovely Nenita and her husband Jimmy, this boutique resort is a labor of love.
To get there is an adventure on its own with a short boat trip across the beautiful bay and a steep walk up to the restaurant. You will be greeted with a cold drink and endless hospitality and once your there you won’t want to leave!
The restaurant and pool are at the base of a quirky white lighthouse that you will see on your approach to the resort. There are eight cottages nestled around and each has stunning views of the bay and spaced perfectly for privacy. Cottages are spacious yet simple; there is no air-con but it would be far better to spend your free time in your outdoor pavilion with superb views; a perfect place for an afternoon nap. And because the resort is quite isolated, it’s perfectly quiet and peaceful.
Food is simple but well prepared and every day is varied using local vegetable, fish and meat. You will meet the main chef Netzki who is a lovely character, full of fun and who enjoys cooking and chatting with the guests. Tell her if you have any special food requests and she will always endeavor to accommodate. Fridays is barbecue night and tables are arranged around the pool and a good time to socialize with other guests.
Of course diving the wrecks in the area is an amazing experience on its own. But at the end of the day, we highly recommend you enjoy sunset drinks by the pool and just take it all in. Imagine a warm evening, cold drink in hand, hues of pink and orange in the sky with the odd wispy cloud reflected on the flat calm sea. This is life.
Diving is with D’Divers Dive Centre, who will pick you up in the morning and take you to their dive centre, just a 2 minute boat ride away to the opposite side of the bay.
It is easy to see why Al Faro has so many returning guests and very complimentary reviews…. Nenita and Jimmy and all the Al Faro staff are so welcoming and will do all they can to help you feel right at home. Only problem is… you won’t want to leave!
