Tucked away near the small provincial town of Anda, on the far eastern side of Bohol, Amun Ini is one of the most idyllic dive resorts we know in the Philippines.
With its own picture postcard white sand beach, Amun Ini is nestled in a small bay over looking the Bohol Sea and on a clear day you see the hilly coastline of Northern Mindanao and the province of Surigao. There is stunning scenery here; beautifully quiet and peaceful too. Amun Ini is very much a family orientated resort with the classic Philippine friendliness and service with a smile always apparent.
The dive operation is not only slick and efficient, but also very personal. You’ll not need to do a thing as the team gets your gear ready and takes it to the boats. Diving is done in small groups, usually not more than 4 divers per guide. After your dive you can refresh yourself with a hot towel and enjoy a mixture of local fresh fruit, including watermelon, pineapple and the best mangoes in the world – the Philippine Mango!
Dive sites for reef and wall diving are very close, with a boat ride of less than 20 minutes to the majority of dive sites. For the muck and macro dive sites, it can be longer boat journey of between 30-60 minutes. These trips further afield will typically include 2 or more dives and a delicious, freshly prepared lunch. The dive guides at Amun Ini have good biology knowledge and will be able to find many ‘A category’ critters for you.
Amun Ini Resort has 16 rooms and can accommodate 32 guests. Rooms are modern and spacious, equipped with all mod cons including quiet air con, cable TV, hot shower and very, very comfortable beds.
The restaurant is the center point to the resort and is spacious and tastefully designed with much use of sturdy hard wood furniture and fittings. The menu is unique to Amun Ini; almost every dish has been ‘Amun Inised’ to bring a new look to classic meals as well their own creations.
There is a emphasis on using locally sourced ingredients; fish, fruits and vegetables, plus also you’ll experience some unusual additions, such as sweet potato leaves in salads. Want something that is not on the menu? No, problem, just ask and they will do their very best to make it happen.
No description of Amun Ini is complete without mentioning the wonderful infinity pool. Surrounded by palm trees and gardens of tropical flora, it is the perfect place to relax in between dives or before dinner as the sun goes down.
